몸과 말의 경계에서 Between Word and Body

연출 의도 Director's Statement

<몸과 말의 경계에서>는 보이지 않는 장애와 사회적 낙인을 지닌 몸, 즉 쉽게 드러낼 수 없는 존재들에 대한 관심에서 시작했다. 이 작업은 기록을 위한 이미지와 목소리.. 그러나 끝내 사용되지 못하고 드러내지 않기로 결심한 한 것들에 주목하며, 무엇을 보여주고 무엇을 감추는지, 그 선택의 윤리적 감각에 대해 질문한다.
기술 발전에 의해 더욱 또렷하게 보고 선명하게 보고/듣기를 향해가는 영상과 음성이라는 기록 매체, 그리고 투사(projection)라는 물리적 구현 방식의 빈틈을 통과하며 '보기'와 '보이지 않음', '말하기'와 '침묵' 사이를 탐구하며, 이 과정을 통해 단순한 재현의 형식을 넘어, 가시성(몸)과 발화(말)의 경계에 놓인 존재를 어떻게 마주할 것인가에 대한 고민을 나누고자 한다.

I have been working with a deep interest in bodies that cannot be easily revealed—those marked by invisible disabilities and stigmatized identities. This interest led me to create Between Word and Body, a work that reflects on the images and voices we record for the sake of documentation but cannot—or choose not to—use. In this work, I questioned how we might edit and present such portraits and voices when they are meant to remain unseen or unheard.
The film uses the technology of recording—video and voice—as well as the method of projection, which brings those recordings into a physical space. But rather than simply showing what was recorded, I wanted to use these tools in a critical way, to question the idea of 'seeing clearly' or 'looking directly.' Through this, the work resists the demand to fully expose the body and instead explores the tension that exists at the edge of visibility and speech.
